I don't know exactly what my fascination is with the Chattanoogo Choo Choo... But I absolutely love that place. It brings back so many memories. I was trying to think about how many times I have stayed there but I got lost after about 20....
The hotel works with local colleges and provides a wonderful Christmas service.... They have Elf Tuck In. The college students dress-up like Santa's Elves and come by appointment to read to the kids, bring hot chocolate, tuck the kids in bed and take a message back to Santa about how good they've been and what they would like for Christmas.
I think my youngest (now 16) was 5 or 6 when we took her. She was memorized by the elves and also a little timid around them. But all in all, I think she loved it and talks about it to this day. (or wait.. I may have been the one so amazed and I KNOW I still talk about it!!)
Well, two of the GRANS are what I think about the right age and I've made reservations for this weekend. Yipeee!!!! (who do you think is the most excited??) We (probably just the two oldest GRANS and I are going--- hubby and 16 year old are not interested) will get to participate in the Elf workshop, have a picture with Santa, swim in the in-door pool, and have the elves tuck the children in bed! On Sunday we may go to the IMAX and see POLAR Express in 3-D!

Ann they'll love it. You and I have lots of memories of the place because we went there as kids in it's hay day. Back then it was a Hilton Hotel and the hot new attraction in the South. Do you remember what an attraction it was back then? It was always packed and they had that trolley train. Is it still running? Have fun. You should take them for a ride on the Incline also.
LOL... The ChooChoo REALLY was something back then. It is now a Holiday Inn and they've lost a lot of the SPIRIT of the place. Usually when I check in they want to give me a map of the property but I tell them that I could give THEM the tour!
The last time I was there- the Trolley was running but I think I was the only person aboard. It is not at all the place it once was but I still think it is a wonderful place.
I'm not to sure of taking 2 little ones on the Incline by myself. I can just imagine the 3 year old freaking out.... ugh... that wouldn't be fun!
But I will do the Incline if you will meet us there and ride with us!!!! You can get Anita to join us and I'll buy the tickets and even lunch!!!! What do you say????? PLEASE!!!!!
TAKE ME! I promise to behave!!
I wanna be tucked in by elves, too!
Yall come on!! I'll take anyone that promises to be in a good mood and happy about being there!!!!
Sue.. I can't wait for you to get to this neck of the woods... You can join us for ChooChoo fun without having to travel so far!!!
Now yall take Country into to helping me with the little ones on the Incline!
Ann, It might help if I understood what the "Incline" was. It's hard to sell a product you know nothing about!!! LOL
Angie, the incline's a real steep cog railway that goes up lookout mountain. It's like a railroad track that goes straight up the side of a mountain instead of gradually winding around it. It's awesome.
Ann, we stayed at the the Choo Choo for my son's 6th birthday - 13years ago. He was just talking about it the other day and remembers it well. In fact, when I do make it up there and he comes up to see me, you can bet he'll be clamoring to stay at the Choo Choo!
Your weekend sounds terrific! How old are the two grankids you're taking?
